If you’ve fallen under the spell of Jellies (the official term for plural Jellycat not Jellycats), you’re not alone. These irresistibly soft and whimsical creations have captured the hearts of collectors worldwide. Whether you're just starting your Jellycat journey or are a seasoned enthusiast, this collector's guide is here to help you curate, care for, and showcase your cherished collection.

Why Collect Jellycat Plushies?

Jellycat’s plushies are beloved for their quirky designs, luxurious softness, and high-quality craftsmanship. They also span a wide range of characters, from classic bunnies to eccentric avocados, making them a joy to collect. Many Jellycat items become retired, turning them into coveted treasures for collectors.

Getting Started: Building Your Collection

  1. Choose a Theme: Decide if you want to focus on a specific type of Jellycat plush, such as animals, food-themed items, or seasonal releases. This can help narrow your search and make your collection cohesive.

  2. Start Small: Begin with a few favorites to get a feel for the types of plushies you love most. Popular choices for beginners include Bashful Bunnies and Amuseables.

  3. Research Retired Plushies: Some Jellycat designs are retired each year, making them rare and highly collectible. Check the Jellycat.com or fan communities to learn which plushies are no longer in production.

Where to Find Jellycat Plushies

  • Curiosgifts.com: Well obviously I'm going to say try us, but we can't keep everything in stock and sometimes not even keep up with certain ranges that become popular. We order directly from Jellycat but if we don't have it try Jellycat.com.

Caring for Your Jellycat Collection

  1. Cleaning Tips:

    • Check the label on your Jellycat! Each product has a dedicated label, much like a piece of clothing. Some are machine washable, some are hand-wash only, I can't stress this enough, check the label.
    • Hand Wash Only: Some Jellies are hand wash only; do not tumble dry, dry clean or iron. Not recommended to clean in a washing machine.
    • Machine Washable: If it's machine washable, it's a 30°C wash only.
Even if it's machine washable, do not tumble dry, dry clean, or iron

  2. Storage Solutions:

    • Display your collection on shelves or in glass cabinets to protect them from dust and pets.

    • Keep them out of direct sunlight to prevent fading.

    • Use airtight containers for long-term storage, adding silica gel packs to prevent moisture damage.

  3. Repairing Damages:

    • For minor tears, use a needle and thread to carefully stitch the fabric.

    • Contact professional plush repair services for significant damage.

Showcasing Your Collection

  • Themed Displays: Create seasonal or themed setups featuring your plushies. For example, a winter wonderland with snowy animals during the holidays. We've had Polar bears, snowflakes, penguins and reindeer that made a beautiful festive scene.Jellycat Frosty Christmas

  • Photo Albums: Document your collection with creative photoshoots and share them on social media.

  • Custom Shelving: Invest in display shelves or shadow boxes that complement your collection and room decor.

Rare Finds to Watch For

  • Limited Editions: Look for Jellycats released for special occasions or holidays.

  • Retired Classics: Designs that are no longer in production, such as specific Bashful Bunny colours or discontinued Amuseables. Many seasonal items are retired, some come back in different forms.
